The 3 Critical Jobs of a Piston Ring

Piston rings fit into the outer grooves of a piston inside an internal combustion engine. They have three primary responsibilities that directly affect engine performance:

1. Sealing the Combustion Chamber: They prevent combustion gases from leaking down into the crankcase (often referred to as "blow-by"). This ensures that maximum pressure is retained to push the piston down, preserving engine power.
